Archaeology of Lesbian Desire

Synopsis

Inspired by the experimental LGBTQIA+ cinema of the 70s, this film questions the blossoming of lesbian desire through an aesthetic and dreamlike approach, from the sensuality of a statue to the repressed eroticism of the women between them.

Camille Zéhenne graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris-Cergy and is an associate researcher at GRIPIC, Sorbonne University. In addition to being a programmer for Les Froufrous de Lilith, her work as a filmmaker explores language and the status of images. This is particularly evident in her found footage films, La poésie nous revient de là où on ne l’attendait plus and her latest film, Faites qu’il nous arrive quelque chose, both selected for the Côté-Court festival in 2019 and 2020. She also co-directed the documentary film Barthes with Bernard Marcadé, Vincent Gérard, and Cédric Laty, which was released in theaters in January 2020 and streamed on Tënk. Her most recent film, L’Eden, a short documentary, won the SCAM’s Brouillon d’un rêve grant. Additionally, she co-authored Le livre dont Jean Baudrillard est le héros with Emmanuelle Fantin, an interactive fiction published by Editions MF and prefaced by Edgar Morin. Camille is currently an artist-in-residence at the Casa de Velázquez for 2023-24.
