Born to an English-speaking father and a French-speaking mother, David Findlay was born in Quebec City in 1991. After growing up in his hometown, David continued his university studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in film. During his studies, he produced more than 10 short films and directed 4 of them; some of them traveled to festivals such as Berlin, Warsaw, Dubai, Melbourne and the AFI Fest.
