Ara Ball

Being passionate, a filmmaker and traveller, Ara ball does not place limits on himself. Born in Montreal, July 30, 1982, he is the son of an Anglophone mother and a Quebecois father. His family environment, with a very developed artistic side, plunged him into the world of art at a very young age. In 2004 he studied cinema at O’Sullivan College. He ended the Media and Technology program in 2007. In 2007 he was the manager of an advertising company in Montreal where he worked full time as an editor and leading his small team. In 2011 he continued his journey and visited India for 6 months. A few months after returning he wrote L’OURAGAN: FYT. This film was entered in 42 festivals in 15 countries. It was part of the Jutra competition as well as winning awards( RCVQ, Prends ca court!, SPASM). During this time he joined a creative collective: Les Enfants Terribles and he taught Cinema History at an alternative high school in Montreal. In 2014, Le Pedophile, his second short film, began its journey. This film travelled to over 30 film festivals(SXSW, Mecal, Dresden) and was also nominated for a Jutra Award not to mention winning the award for best director at Fantasia 2015. Vie d’Ruelles is his third short film to see the light of day. Presently he is working as an editor and focusing on writing two feature length films.
